Diathermy and Electrolysis

Diathermy

The perfect treatment for those stubborn spots and lesions! Diathermy is used to treat vascular and benign skin lesions. It involves the use of an electrical current to heat the target lesion via an ultra fine probe, causing a heat reaction to denature and remove the lesion. The level of discomfort you experience will depend on the area being treated and your sensitivity threshold, generally it is quite pain free and a slight sensation of heat is felt.

Vascular Lesions - Uses an alternating current to produce heat, resulting in cellular dehydration, denaturation of proteins and coagulation and closing of the of the vessel. We can treat things like red veins, cherry angiomas, spider angiomas, telangiectasias and vessels etc.

Benign Lesions - Uses an alternating current to produce heat to dry out and denature the cells, allowing for removal of the lesion. We can treat things like sebaceous hyperplasia, seborrheic keratoses, skin tags, millia etc.

If you're uncertain about what treatment method would be best for your lesion or any other condition, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment with us. We can help determine the best treatment options and discuss pricing and treatment plans.

Electrolysis

Say goodbye to facial waxing and those pesky hairs!!

Electrolysis hair removal is considered one of the most effective and popular methods of hair reduction. A tiny electrical current is passed into the hair follicle using an ultra-fine probe. This creates a chemical reaction that eliminates the parts of the hair responsible for its growth and regeneration. It is an established hair removal technique that’s been in use since 1875.

Did you know that hair grows in four stages and each hair is at a different stage at any given time? Electrolysis treatment is only effective when the hair is still connected to the blood supply, which is referred to as the anagen phase. Multiple treatments are required to effectively treat all hairs in a specific area as hair may be in any of the four stages of growth. It may take several sessions to achieve the desired results, as each hair follicle must be treated individually. However, we can not guarantee that we can permanently remove all hairs in the treatment area.

Electrolysis can be performed on any skin colour and hair colour, unlike laser and IPL. Some people may experience mild pain or discomfort during the procedure.
